• Over 250 RTA Staff Attend Workshop On UAE’s Bid To Host Expo 2020

Senior-level RTA staff learn how government organisations can take part in raising awareness for Expo 2020 bid

In a clear sign of the growing enthusiasm for the UAE’s bid to host the World Expo in 2020, over 250 senior-level Roads & Transport Authority staff members attended a workshop this week to learn more about the bid process and how government organisations can help raise awareness for this important national effort.

Held under the authority of the Higher Committee for Hosting the 2020 World Expo, workshop attendees listened to a presentation about the history of World Expos and the UAE’s bid to host this major global event. Attendees also gained insight into the vision of the Higher Committee for Hosting the 2020 World Expo and how the event can benefit the country’s economy.

RTA staff also learned how they can take part in the awareness campaign for the bid, by including the Expo 2020 logo on company stationery, presentations and email signatures while spreading the word among their friends and colleagues.

RTA’s CEO of Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector, Jawad Al Redha said: “We, at RTA, are all committed to effectively contributing to make Expo 2020 a success through the infinite support we shall provide to the visitors and participants in this landmark event, which will indisputably play a vital role in enhancing the prestigious global position of the UAE in general, and Dubai’s position in particular.”

The workshop is part of a series of Expo 2020 educational events organised for government departments and agencies across the nation. The goal of the program is to involve government officials and staff in the bid campaign and encourage everyone to take part.
Dubai, UAE, is competing against four other candidate cities bidding to host the 2020 World Expo, including Ayutthaya (Thailand); Ekaterinburg (Russia); Izmir (Turkey); and Sao Paulo (Brazil).
The winning city will be announced in November 2013 following a vote by the 160 member nations of the Bureau International des Expositions – the international organisation responsible for overseeing the bidding, selection and organisation of World Expos.
