RTA Educates Metro Riders To Comply With Regulations, Avoid Offences
Roads & Transport Authority – Manal Khalid: The Rail Agency, Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), in cooperation with SERCO (Operator of Dubai Metro) has launched last month a campaign to educate the metro riders on all rules, regulations and proper practices applicable on board the metro carriages, and also benefit & entertain them during the transit time.
The Director of Rail Operation, RTA Licensing Agency, Ramadan Abdullah, said: “We in the RTA, in coordination with the Operator of the Metro, are always seeking to deliver a package of services to improve the metro service and boost the confidence of riders. Therefore we opted to launch an educative campaign for the metro commuters in the form of a 2 minutes video footage displayed on all the 44 trains operating daily on the Red Line through the on-board display screen mounted to all train cars. The campaign will also be launched on the Green Line once inaugurated next September.”
“The video showcases a number of regulations & guidelines to be complied with to ensure customers satisfaction and avoid offences which are mostly attributed to poor passengers’ knowledge about these guidelines. This prompted us to offer them ample opportunity to have exposure to these regulations during their journeys such that all possible actions to maintain the metro are adhered to including refraining from eating & drinking, no pets, no smoking and no throwing of waste. Passengers are also familiarized with the appropriate size of luggage, seating priorities (elderly, special needs or women), and the proper practices of boarding & alighting from the metro in order to avoid any disruption to other passengers. Through these regulations we are seeking to ensure the safety of passengers in transit and involve them in maintaining the metro as well as the environmental safety.
