RTA Installs 89 Monitors Displaying Real Time Passenger Info Of Buses
The Public Transport Agency at the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has recently completed the installation of 89 video monitors on the Red and Green Line stations of the Dubai Metro to display Real Time Passenger Information; a move that echoes the implementation of the latest technology in this line of industry with the aim of enabling the metro riders check the bus movement (arrival & departure schedules), particularly the metro feeder service.
Adel Shakiri, Director of Transportation Systems at the Public Transport Agency said that the work teams of the Agency had completed the installation of these smart monitors aimed at displaying bus timetables as well as actual arrival times at stations. These information displayed would be updated within less than a minute of the expect bus arrival time at the station. Information would be displayed in Arabic & English languages and the Operations Control Center at the Agency would attend to monitoring and tracking all buses to ensure their compliance with the information displayed for the metro riders.
"These clear and easy to read monitors are installed in response to passengers demands which are considerably on the rise and so is the integration of public transport network. Such information are crucial for identifying the most efficient routes in terms of transit time and number of stops between the departure point and final destination. This technology definitely brings about a huge addition to the evolution of the culture of using public transport means among a large chunk of the public in Dubai Emirate. The step also illustrates the continuous attention of the RTA to adopting modern technologies and means capable of facilitating the use of various mass transit systems," added Shakiri.
