Al Tayer: The Exhibition enhances Dubai Government’s excellence profile
The Roads & Transport Authority – Mohammed Al Munji: His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), said that the Dubai Government’s Achievements Expo (Local Government, Global Achievements), being held under the auspices of the UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, would be a prominent platform showcasing the achievements, initiatives and projects of all Dubai Government authorities & departments under one roof with the aim of promoting the excellent services provided by the Dubai Government entities to their clientele encompassing private businesses, citizens, residents, investors and visitors. He pointed out that this Exhibition would enhance the excellent profile of the Dubai Government, cement the cooperative & partnership relations between government agencies, and uplift the performance level, productivity and quality services delivered to customers.
"The RTA identified its key achievements & services of relevance to the Expo, assessed them against several benchmarks and concluded to select 16 projects & services spanning most RTA’s agencies & sectors. The exhibits portfolio includes the Dubai Metro project through highlighting several components of the project including its concept, objective, excellence features, modern technologies used in construction & operation, impressive design of stations, and statistics depicting the growth in the metro ridership," he explained.
Al Tayer continued: "RTA will also showcase the Floating Bridge; which is one of the innovative projects undertaken by the RTA as prompt solution to ease the traffic congestions. The Bridge was constructed over 300 days and has a capacity to handle three thousand vehicles per hour per direction during the morning and evening peak hours. RTA will also exhibit multi-tier flyovers that boast a distinctive design and the use of high technologies such as the first & eighth interchanges on the Sheikh Zayed Road, as well as the Arabian Ranches Interchange. It will also exhibit the air-conditioned bus shelters where 900 shelters or so have been constructed all over Dubai Emirate.
"RTA will also showcase its e-services delivered to customers of the Licensing Agency enabling them to process their transactions relating to renewal of vehicles registration & driving licenses as well as payment of fines through four channels namely: RTA website (www.rta.ae), RTA Customer Service Centers across Dubai, RTA-approved insurance companies, and recently through phone calls to RTA Call Center. As such the Call Center is converted from just a channel of responding to customer inquiries and furnishing callers with some information to an advanced operations center for delivering services to customers. The service is easy to access and does not require intensive human resources to run.
"The Expo will highlight a number of systems such as Salik toll gate system which contributed to spreading the traffic movement through various road corridors and provided an express route to serve road users who wish to reach their destinations faster and smoother. RTA will also exhibit the system of paying parking fees through the mobile phone (m-Parking), the journey planner (Wojhati) where Dubai has become just the fifth city worldwide (after London, New York, Zurich, Munich and Melbourne) that offers this service which provides all information needed by public transport commuters. Besides that it will also exhibit other mobility systems & services such as Sharekni and Awselni," elaborated Al Tayer.
"During the Expo, RTA will offer exposure to another galaxy of services and systems including the unified transport card (Nol card), assets management system, metro stations naming right along with the benefits accruing to the RTA as a result of this project, automated vehicle management system enabling real-time & tracking of public buses round-the-clock as well as establishing a communication link with buses to ensure their timely arrival to their respective destinations. It will also spotlight the implementation of the strategic plan and performance measurements follow-up system (Adaa), customer relations management system, and human resources improvement initiatives," said RTA Chairman of the Board and Executive Director in a final remark.
