• RTA To Showcase Its Sustainable Transport Indicatives In GLOBE 2012 In Canada

    A delegation from the Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) headed by Abdullah Ali Al Madani, CEO of RTA’s Corporate Technical Support Services Sector, left for Vancouver, Canada yesterday to participate in the GLOBE 2012 Conference & Exhibition, which will be held from 14th to 16th March, as part of a delegation representing Dubai Government departments taking part for the first time in this important global event. Besides the RTA, the government delegation includes Dubai Municipality, Department of Economic Development, Foreign Investment Office, Energy and Environment Park "ENPARK," and Sustainable Living Expo "EPIC Dubai".

    Commenting on RTA’s participation, Abdullah Ali Al Madani, CEO of RTA’s Corporate Technical Support Services Sector, said, "By participating in this landmark international event, the RTA aims at showcasing its plentiful initiatives in sustainable transport as part of the sustainable development process taking place in the UAE in general and the Emirate of Dubai in particular, such as the Dubai Metro project, which is powered by clean electrical power.  The RTA also aims at encouraging the public to use mass transport modes comprising the metro, public buses, Water Bus."

    "It will also seek to showcase its internationally distinguished projects in terms of constructing road networks and establishing sound infrastructure to operate mass transit modes, along with its strategic plans to double the number of public transport users and achieve the highest possible rates of energy efficiency."

    "The RTA is always keen on the optimal implementation of the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President & Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to gear up for the new phase in the UAE development drive when HH announced the UAE Strategy for Green Development themed "Green Economy for Sustainable Development." Our participation in the "GLOBE 2012" is an ideal opportunity for meeting more than 2000 prominent green business leaders in the world hailing from 50 countries, and benefiting from the experiences of advanced countries such as the United States of America, Canada and Australia in addition to some European & Asian countries including China and South Korea among others, which have gone far and wide in this regard," added Al Madani.

    In addition to Abdullah Ali Al Madani, the RTA’s delegation includes Mohammed Abdullah Al Ali, Director of Planning and Business Development at the Public Transport Agency & Head of RTA’s Power Conservation Team, and Majdia Abdul Aziz Al Awadi, Senior Engineer at Buildings and Facilities Maintenance Dep’t & Member of Energy Saving Team.

    The participation of Dubai Government departments in the "GLOBE 2012" focus on a number of objectives such as showcasing the initiatives & achievements of the Emirate of Dubai in the context of the national initiative Green Economy for Sustainable Development & the UAE Vision 2021, bolstering the international relations & expertise, participating in building national competencies which contribute to advancing the process of sustainable development, and reviewing the best practices as well as the latest global innovations in this area.

    Moreover, the RTA’s participation also aim at realizing a host of strategic objectives such as strengthening the central role played by Dubai City as a global financial and business hub in a way that ranks it at the forefront of cities advocating the proliferation of green and clean technologies extensively especially in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. The participation also intends to showcase Dubai’s rich legacy of policies, initiatives and infrastructure which enhance the freedom of business & the sustainable economic development regionally and globally, promote Dubai’s eligibility for attracting and fostering foreign investments in the green & clean technologies sector in keeping with its outstanding infrastructure, competitive ingredients and openness to regional and global markets.  This participation is also expected to attract companies operating in renewable energy technologies sector, which are rearing for global expansion in order to base themselves in Dubai as a regional hub for their operations & investments, and thereby achieve palpable and immediate benefits to Dubai’s economy at a macro level.
