RTA Briefs Argentine Delegation On Dubai Metro Advanced Technologies
The Rail Agency, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has recently briefed an Argentine delegation headed by engineer Mauricio Macri, Mayor of the capital city Buenos Aires, on the best practices and cutting-edge technologies used by the Rail Agency, including those of the Dubai Metro Operations Control Center.
The visiting delegation was received by Adnan Al Hammadi, CEO of Rail Agency, in the presence of a number of directors, managers and employees of the Agency. The Argentine delegation included Fulvio Pompeo, Undersecretary of International and Institutional Relations; Ivan Pavlovsky, Speaker for the Mayor; Hernán Bielus, General Director of Protocol; in addition to Ruben Caro, Ambassador & Consul of Argentina to the UAE, and Ms. Marta Gonzalez Nieves, Deputy Head of Missions in the Argentine Embassy in the UAE.
Commenting on the visit, Adnan Al Hammadi, CEO of RTA’s Rail Agency, said: "The RTA is always keen on sharing with the concerned institutions from sisterly and friendly countries its pioneering experience in mass transit systems, especially the Dubai Metro Project as it boasts sophisticated technologies considered the first of its kind. What is particularly interesting in the Dubai Metro is that it is the longest driverless Metro line worldwide, and uses advanced technologies which contribute effectively to the success of this leading project, highlighted by the Operations Control Center."
"We have received the Argentine delegation at the Operations Control Center of the Dubai Metro at Rashidiya, where the visiting delegation was apprised of the work mechanism in place, the vital and key role played by the Center in monitoring and controlling the systems, stations and depots for early detection and repair of breakdowns to ensure the highest degree of efficient and safe train operations," added Al Hammadi.
Al Hammadi pointed to the key role played by the staffs of the Centre who make strenuous efforts to monitor all aspects of the Dubai metro, trains movement and stations at both the Red & Green Lines by scrutinizing all related issues.
The delegation was also briefed on the security systems in place which are run in cooperation with the Transportation Security Dep’t, at the Dubai Police, most notably the CCTV room, which is overseen by a Security Officer, whose job is to monitor surveillance cameras and cope with different security incidents at stations; such as any malpractices on the part of the public, or in the event of receiving complaints, observations, etc., in which case the Officer directly intervenes and communicates with officials at the station to contain the issue properly in a way that ensures the public safety in particular.
For his part, engineer Mauricio Macri, Mayor of Buenos Aires City, lauded the active role played by the Operations Control Center in maintaining the security of the Dubai Metro stations and passengers, by applying the world’s best surveillance and security systems. Mr. Macri also commended other aspects of the Dubai Metro, including the exquisite & unique designs of the metro stations, combining both modernity and traditions.
