Sorouh’s Sun and Sky Towers wins Cityscape award for best completed mixed-use development in MENA region
Sorouh Real Estate has been awarded the 2012 Cityscape award for the best completed mixed-use project in the Middle East and North Africa region for its landmark Sun & Sky Towers development.
The 74-storey Sky Tower and 65-Storey Sun Tower are the tallest completed buildings in the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The development, comprising residential, retail and office space, is at the heart of the new Shams Abu Dhabi district on Al Reem Island and was designed, project managed and constructed by Arquitectonica, RW Armstrong, HillQpi and Arabian Construction Company.
The award was announced at a ceremony during the Cityscape Abu Dhabi real estate event this week.
Commenting on the announcement, Gurjit Singh, Chief Operating Officer at Sorouh Real Estate said;
“Sun and Sky Towers have set a new standard for modern living in Abu Dhabi. With stunning views, a central location and high-quality facilities, the development has already attracted over 850 families. Our BOUTIK-branded retail space is about to open and the Grade-A offices are also proving popular among companies looking to upgrade their premises. We are very thankful to Cityscape Abu Dhabi and it is an honour to receive the award, as Sorouh pushes ahead with its mission to deliver what we call ‘places that matter’”.
Construction of the Sun and Sky Towers began in 2007, and Sorouh began handing over residential units last year. The company is also developing the 65-storey Gate Towers in the Shams Gate district. Last week Sorouh reached the half-way point in lifting a “penthouse bridge” to top the three towers – the highest ever construction lift for a residential building in the world.
During the Cityscape Abu Dhabi event, Sorouh launched its BOUTIK retail brand, which is bringing high quality retail outlets to the company’s residential developments.
