• First Gulf Bank’s Nojoom Continues To Bring More Emirati Talents Into The Banking Sector

Programme received 39 management trainees to date

Following in the path it paved towards encouraging more UAE youth to join the banking sector, First Gulf Bank (FGB), a major leading financial institution in the UAE, launched the second phase of its “Nujoom” management graduates scheme for talented UAE National university graduates.

Twenty eight fresh graduates from local and international universities joined the programme’s second phase, aiming to obtain a deeper knowledge of the finance and banking sector, and to acquire the skills they need to succeed in their future careers. This leads to a total number of 39 management trainees to have been enrolled in the ‘Nujoom’ graduate scheme to date.

Through its three phases, the 18-month programme exposes participants to real-life work scenarios, guidance and mentoring. This programme also falls under the vision of the medium to long term strategy of First Gulf Bank to build a pipeline of talented UAE Nationals to join its rapidly expanding network. Nujoom is being held at FGB’s recently launched business school and offers real, hands-on experience in addition to allowing participants to acquire general managerial and leadership skills over time. The Nujoom scheme reflects FGB’s genuine commitment towards Emiratisation efforts, as it is not just another training programme, but rather a scheme which offers true workplace skills and knowledge.

Commenting on the launch of the programme’s second phase, Abdulrahman Saqr, Senior Vice President and Head of Emiratisation at FGB, said: “First Gulf Bank is pleased to be launching the second phase of its Nujoom specialist programme following the immense success of this scheme, which first began earlier this year in May, as was evident through the positive feedback we received from participants. We are pleased to see our Nujoom one batch placed within key business areas across our organization.”

“Nujoom is tailored to provide young Emirati talents with true insight into the banking sector, and to prepare them to take their positions in the work field. First Gulf Bank’s vision for these multiple training efforts is to allow our UAE Nationals to become active players in the development of our beloved nation,” he added.

Commenting on her experiences in the programme, Asma Salem, who joined ‘Nujoom’ last May, said: “Being part of this programme was not only an educational experience, but also an eye opening journey. Nujoom provided me with much more than just theoretical concepts and allowed me to understand true work issues. I would personally like to seize the opportunity to express my appreciation towards First Gulf Bank’s efforts in opening a range of prospects to all the participants. Not only has FGB taught us so much, but it also allowed us to apply this knowledge in our career path.”

Nujoom falls within a range of training programmes that FGB has devised specifically for Emiratis, including its Al Manara Mentorship programme, and its recent summer training scheme. FGB has also launched its First Gulf Bank Business School for its employees, to promote their development and to provide them with new skills required for their specific positions and designations.
