• EMAL Joins Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group As Flagship Proponent Of Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030

EMAL core values demonstrate culture of sustainability

Emirates Aluminium (EMAL) has joined the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group (ADSG) in its efforts to integrate sustainability into the Emirate’s economic and social development programmes. EMAL qualified as a member of the ADSG - established by the Environment Agency, Abu Dhabi, with the support of the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi Emirate - through its commitment from inception to develop and implement core values that embed a culture of sustainability. Additionally, EMAL has integrated the key requirements of the Abu Dhabi 2030 Vision into its business strategies as a flagship proponent of the vision.

From concept, design, construction and operation, EMAL has been committed to its core values of ’Safety, First Last and Always’; ’Protection of the Environment’; ’Investing in Today for Tomorrow’; ’We respect Individuals, their Differences and value local culture’; and ’Everything can be Improved’. The same values are also deployed externally with stakeholders and partnerships, with priority consideration given to the community through open and transparent processes providing support and dialogue.

Saeed Fadhel Al Mazrooei, President and CEO of EMAL said: "As a key project of the vision to diversify the economy of the Emirates for a better tomorrow, EMAL has been committed to continuous improvement and excellence with the aim to benefit the nation. To be accepted as a member of the ADSG is an honour, as it will allow us not only to continue to improve in our pursuit of excellence, but also to contribute to the overall well-being of the nation as a champion of sustainability."

As an ADSG member, EMAL will draw on the knowledge, experience and best practices of the ADSG and its members to optimise its sustainability processes. EMAL representatives have already participated in a number of ADSG initiatives which have provided valuable information, training and the opportunity to develop strong networks with its members. EMAL will also seek to align its sustainability reporting programs around existing internationally recognized guidelines and will work with the ADSG to achieve this process. EMAL will also actively work to pool best practice, information and resources of the knowledge base of the ADSG and Abu Dhabi emirate.

The ADSG was established in June 2008 as a forum of members who have signed the ADSG Declaration, committing to adopt best practices of sustainability management and reporting and to actively participate in ADSG activities.
