Etihad Towers Highlights Key Achievements On One Year Anniversary And Strategizes For 2013
Residential, commercial, hospitality and retail components have successfully launched, with further development to take place in 2013
Etihad Towers - the luxury mixed use development by Sheikh Suroor Projects Department (SSPD) in the heart of the UAE capital - marks one year since its opening with impressive achievements across the residential, commercial, retail and hospitality offerings, forming the right foundation for its 2013 strategy.
The three residential towers, which comprise 885 luxury apartments and penthouses, have been extremely well-received, reaching occupancy levels of over 75% in just twelve months. On a similarly positive trend, the high-spec, state-of-the-art office tower has now established itself as a new commercial centre for Abu Dhabi with more than 70% of the building leased across 47 floors of space. This follows Etihad Towers’ various recent announcements of high-profile tenants that have chosen to locate their offices in the prestigious tower, including investment company HAMG, the Embassy of The Republic of Fiji and Japanese Oil Company JODCO.
Significant progress has been made in construction in the surrounding area since the Etihad Towers launch, particularly with the tunnel opening in November, which allows direct vehicle access exclusively to Etihad Towers. November also saw the official launch of AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS - Abu Dhabi’s first standalone luxury shopping experience - following the gradual openings of shops throughout the summer. AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS welcomed approximately 1000 guests for the event with a mixed live and hologram fashion show, the first of its kind in the Middle East. The destination is home to over 34 high-end brands, many of which are ‘firsts’ for the Abu Dhabi market, the region, and one brand even opening its first boutique worldwide.
The retail, commercial and residential offerings of the development have all blended together beautifully to compliment the hospitality at Jumeirah at Etihad Towers, Abu Dhabi’s first Jumeirah hotel, which opened last year. The Hotel recently announced the opening of the ‘Observation Deck at 300’, which offers guests a 360 degree view of the city’s skyline, the Corniche and Arabian Gulf. The striking beachside development was also chosen this month among the world’s top three skyscrapers in the Emporis Skyscraper Award 2011, an annual coveted architectural award where winners are chosen by international architecture experts.
Commenting on the one year anniversary, His Highness Sheikh Suroor Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan said: “Our vision for Etihad Towers was to create a unique and luxurious destination for residents, professionals, and visitors alike – a vision that is aligned with the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 to diversify the economy. I am extremely proud of the transformation of the Etihad Towers development since it opened one year ago, with the successful launch of the various aspects of the development throughout the year. The growth and response has been tremendous, and I look forward to seeing Etihad Towers further evolve during 2013.”
Mr. Sami Al Khuwaiter, Projects Director at SSPD (Sheikh Suroor’s Projects Department), added: “The various components of Etihad Towers have all fallen into place, setting a benchmark for mixed-use developments in the capital, and there are still further opportunities that are being strongly considered. In addition to diversifying our retail portfolio with one additional food and beverage outlet and gourmet food store Waitrose, we are also currently exploring cultural and art entertainment platforms for AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS. We also look forward to welcoming new office tenants, residents and visitors to experience Etihad Towers as it continues to flourish.”
A fully established integrated lifestyle community, Etihad Towers features a choice of world-class residences, prestigious offices, luxury retail, and a five star hotel, Jumeirah at Etihad Towers.
