Fitur Madrid is going to be the first stop on the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority’s reinvigorated promotional and marketing campaign for Year 2013. The Authority today formally announced its participation in the International Tourism Trade Fair (Fitur) to be held in the Spanish capital, Madrid, from January 30 to February 3, following its remarkable debut last year.
The SCTDA will lead the Sharjah delegation to the popular tourism and trade exhibition that will have the leading players from the emirate’s tourism and hospitality sector including the popular flagship airline Air Arabia, Hotel Radisson Blu and Grand Hotel etc on board.
The emirate’s celebrated tourist attractions, cultural activities and popular festivals held throughout the year will be in the spotlight at an exclusively designed pavilion with promotional literature and pamphlets in various international languages being made available to the visitors from Europe and across the world.
Speaking on the occasion, SCTDA Director General HE Khalid Jassim Al Midfa said that Fitur Madrid is the first on the Authority’s agenda and its revised promotion strategy for Year 2013 targeting more than 10 international exhibitions and forums, both local and international, of the travel, tourism and trade sectors this year. This is an ideal platform to both promote Sharjah’s tourism product and increase its share of the booming Spanish tourism market as well as keep pace with the latest trends and developments in the global travel and tourism industry, said Al Midfa.
“Fitur Madrid is one of the most special and exclusive exhibitions in the global tourism industry and offers an ideal platform to exchange ideas and experiences and to identify and benefit from the latest developments in the global tourism bazaar. In its 33rd year, the fair presents a global meeting ground for leading tourism players, decision makers, media and industry experts who come together to develop strategies to stimulate the tourism industry,” he said.
“The Madrid exhibition attracts more than 9,000 exhibitors and over 200,000 exhibitors from 167 countries. This is a great opportunity to present and promote Sharjah’s distinct tourism experience and product for the diverse Spanish and European markets, expanding horizons of cooperation between the exhibitors and participants from various countries and destinations and attracting the more discerning Spanish and European travellers ,” Al Midfa added.
This will be the second time that Sharjah is taking part in the Madrid exhibition. The Sharjah pavilion attracted considerable attention of the droves of the exhibition visitors, participants and dignitaries including the UAE Ambassador to Spain HE Dr. Hessa Abdullah Al Otaiba.
