MoF And Zakat Fund Cooperate To Collect Donations Through e-Dirham
In line with the Ministry’s efforts to unite all Ministries and Federal agencies through the usage of the Second Generation of e-Dirham system, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) signed an agreement with the Zakat Fund on the adoption of G2 E-Dirham as a tool to collect cash donations.
The agreement was signed by HE Younis Haji Al Khouri, Undersecretary of MoF, on behalf of the Ministry of Finance and by HE Abdullah bin Aqeeda Al Muhairi, Secretary General of Zakat Fund, on behalf of the Fund. The signing ceremony was attended by HE Saeed Rashid Al Yateem, Assistant Undersecretary for Resources and Budgets-MoF, Azza Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director of Revenue Development Department-MoF, Mona Al Mulla, Head of Collection Department-MoF, along with Nora Ali Al Jawan, Director of Human Resources and Service at Zakat Fund, Mohammad Sulaiman al Balushi, the Director of the Department of Zakat Beneficiaries and Salim Saleh Said, Zakat Fund’s Secretary General Office Manager.
The agreement provides Zakat Fund customers with the opportunity to easily pay their zakat and alms fees through the G2 E-Dirham system in addition to securing electronic payments on POS devices, electronic collection methods and on the Internet. In the meantime the Ministry is working on creating new methods for completing monetary transactions and allowing easy payment through mobile phones, electronic kiosks, virtual e- wallets, as well as specialised transfer and direct debit from bank accounts.
Commenting on the agreement, HE Younis Haji Al Khouri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, said: “The Ministry constantly seeks to enhance the Government’s and Federal Agencies’ benefit from the E- Dirham System- the second generation by adding all the services it develops to the system, which in turn improves efficiency in the collection of federal financial resources.”
HE Abdullah Al Muhairi, Secretary General of Zakat Fund commented on the importance of this agreement as it symbolises the Federal Government’s continuous initiatives in promoting cooperation and coordination between various government bodies. HE also highlighted the vital role the agreement plays in creating new channels for Zakat payments in a smooth and modernised manner which in turn will positively reflect on donations received by the Zakat Fund .”
