Avenue At Etihad Towers Welcomes ’Culture Of The Silk Road’ Art Show
Collection of artist Li Guilan on exhibit in the UAE Capital
‘AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS’ – Abu Dhabi’s first standalone high-end luxury shopping destination – recently welcomed the ‘Culture of the Silk Road’ art show, which exhibits an array of remarkable embroidery pieces until 6 March 2013 at AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS.
The striking work of artist Li Guilan, who originates from Suzhou in Jiangsu Province, China, represents the finest of the famous tradition of Chinese Su Xiu embroidery. Dating back 2000 years, Su Xiu is renowned for its elegant colours, beautiful patterns and variety of subtle and refined stitches, and is typically crafted along various themes including floral patterns, animals and nature. Artists specialising in Su Xiu are known to use approximately 1,000 different types of threads for their intricate pieces.
The exquisite fine art exhibits taking place at AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS are a natural fit with the beautiful fashion and pieces of the destination’s brands. The remarkable artwork of Li Guilan will be displayed at AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS until next Wednesday. This marks the second exhibition to be held at the luxury shopping destination, reflecting its role as a centre for both fine and applied arts in Abu Dhabi, and further enhancing its commitment to hosting exhibitions and other activities.
Li and her team have created pieces for The Chinese People’s Liberation Army to commemorate the first space flight by Chinese astronauts, and their work features in the collections of some of China’s best known figures, as well as museums across the world.
‘Culture of the Silk Road’ is being displayed until 6 March daily at AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS, spread across the two podiums of the destination.
