Dubai Land Department Staff Take Part In Expo 2020 Workshop
Latest in series of ongoing briefing sessions with Dubai Government entities provides Land Department staff with insights and tools to promote the UAE’s bid
Reflecting the high level of public-sector engagement with the UAE’s bid to host the 2020 World Expo, staff from the Dubai Land Department participated this week in an interactive workshop facilitated by the Expo 2020 bid team.
Over 150 staff from the Land Department participated in this workshop, which follows similar recent meetings between the bid team and government entities such as the Community Development Authority, Dubai Police and the Roads & Transport Authority
The latest in a series of briefingsessions organised for government departments across the UAE, the workshop provided Land Department staff with key insights into the country’s bid to host the first Expo ever in the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia region, as well as tools with which to promote the bid internally and among their many external stakeholders.
During the workshop, Land Department staff and members of the Expo 2020 bid team shared their perspectives on strategies for engaging the community with this important national effort – including through the department’s many touch points. Attendees also learned how they can take part in this ongoing awareness campaign by including the official Expo 2020 logo on the Land Department website, presentations, stationary and email signatures, and by sharing relevant news and information with colleagues.
Sultan Butti bin Mejren, Dubai Land Department’s Secretary General, commented that the department is looking forward totaking part in this nationwide campaign to support thecountry’s bid to host the world in 2020.
“Our hopes are very high that the UAE will win its bid to host the 2020 World Expo. The bid theme ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ reflects the extraordinary vision and leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE’s Vice President and Prime Minister and the Ruler of Dubai,” he added.
The Land Department provides more than 200 services related to the emirate’s real estate sector, including thedocumentation and registration of all transactions, including nearly 19,000 transactions of the first half of this year alone. The regulation of the sector is also carried out by the Land Department through its regulatory arm, the Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA).
Dubai, UAE, is competing against four other candidate cities bidding to host the 2020 World Expo, including Ayutthaya (Thailand); Ekaterinburg (Russia); Izmir (Turkey); and Sao Paulo (Brazil).
The winning city will be announced in November 2013 following a vote by the 161 member nations of the Bureau International des Expositions – the international organisation responsible for overseeing the bidding, selection and organisation of World Expos.
