Selected ENOC/EPPCO Stations To Have Revised Night Working Hours To Promote Cost Optimisation
Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) will implement revised night working hours at selected sites within its retail network in Dubai as part of the company’s concerted initiatives to promote cost optimisation measures and boost operational efficiency.
The sites will now function from 6am to midnight, and have been selected based on their relatively low footfall during the night and proximity to other retail sites, thus minimising any inconvenience to motorists.
The initiative is also in line with ENOC’s commitment to promote energy efficiency and the ‘green vision’ of the UAE to promote sustainable use of energy resources. The revised night shifts will be implemented from December 6, 2012, with ENOC to evaluate the results on a periodic basis.
Burhan Al Hashemi, Managing Director of ENOC Retail, said: “Over the years, ENOC has developed a strong network of fuel stations in Dubai that conveniently meet the needs of motorists. As part of our cost and operational optimisation measures, we have been monitoring the night footfall at our stations. We have identified several sites that are ably supported by nearby stations and have relatively low footfall at night. We have therefore introduced a revised work shift at these stations during the night hours.”
He added: “We expect the initiative to further enhance our overall cost and operational efficiencies, with minimal inconvenience to our customers. This will also enable us to promote energy use efficiency across the sites, complementing the goals of the Government of Dubai to promote sustainable practices across the energy supply chain. As the pioneer of green petrol stations in the region, we continuously evaluate various initiatives to promote energy sustainability.”
This move also enables ENOC to divert manpower from less busy sites to busier ones, thus contributing to the overall productivity levels of the organisation.
The ENOC sites that will have revised night shifts are located in Al Aweer and Ittihad Road near Gargash Roundabout and the EPPCO sites are located opposite Dubai Airport Free Zone Metro Station, Al Qusais; Al Wahida Road near Century Mall; Jumeirah Road opposite Jumeirah Beach Hotel.
ENOC has been implementing various measures to promote sustainable energy use, and is at the forefront of educating the public on the need to conserve fuel.
EMGAS, a subsidiary of ENOC, has been working closely with the RTA to introduce compressed natural gas (CNG) in public transport to enhance environmental protection. A unique model of pipe-less natural gas fuel stations will be introduced in Dubai as part of plans to implement a cost-effective and environment-friendly natural gas transportation solution.
Government vehicles will first switch to CNG followed by private cars in the emirate to reduce carbon emissions and cut fuel costs. The Dubai Municipality is one of the first Dubai Government organisations to begin the conversion of their fleet of vehicles to CNG.
ENOC’s first green service station, which opened in 2011 at The Greens neighbourhood in Emirates Hills, is another path-breaking initiative aimed at reducing the ecological footprint of the users.
Among the innovative initiatives at the station are advanced technological devices to control petrol fumes released at the pump and a variety of other state-of-the-art systems including solar powered lighting, a ‘waterless’ car-washing system, new waste segregation systems and design upgrades to reduce noise pollution.
