Dubaisat-2 Model At Dubai Mall Attracts Significant Public Interest
A model of DubaiSat-2 showcased at Dubai Mall as part of the 41st UAE National Day celebrations attracted a significant number of visitors. The display by the Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology (EIAST) was aimed to raise awareness and highlight the UAE’s achievements in space research.
“The private and public sectors have joined hands to celebrate the 41st UAE National Day, and EIAST is proud to be part of this celebration. The UAE is among the first Arab countries to make rapid strides in space research, and is constantly investing and exploring more opportunities in this sector.” H.E. Ahmed Obaid Al Mansouri, Director General of EIAST said, adding that the country is keen to train its citizens and increase the competencies of the youth in this field.
H.E. said the UAE has succeeded in becoming a key player in international affairs since the formation of the Federation in 1971, and noted that since then, the country has made several achievements in all areas, including the space industry.
At Dubai Mall, EIAST offered visitors information about DubaiSat-2, enhancing their awareness about the space mission and showcasing the UAE’s efforts in promoting sustainable knowledge.
The DubaiSat-2 project is a joint development programme between EIAST and Satrec Initiative of South Korea, in which 16 UAE engineers have been working on the design, development, testing and manufacturing of the satellite. The participation of the UAE engineers, who are currently working in South Korea, has increased by 100 per cent from the DubaiSat-1 project and it is hoped that this will take EIAST to the next level in satellite development.
