Dubai International Film Festival And MIPTV Consolidate Their Partnership
Three films to be included in MIPTV and filmmakers to be hosted in Cannes to network with key industry professionals and decision makers
Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), the leading film festival in the Middle East, Asia and Africa has consolidated its strategic partnership with MIPTV, the leading international content market and showcase for television and digital entertainment, held in Cannes (France) each year. As part of their efforts to support talented filmmakers and facilitate distribution, both parties agreed to select three films from the festival to be included in the MIPTV library to secure distribution and to host the filmmakers in Cannes for an opportunity to network with key industry professionals and develop relationships with key decision makers.

Top executives from MIPTV will be participating this year in DIFF and sharing their valuable expertise. Bassil Hajjar, Middle East Representative for MIPTV, will participate in a panel discussion on “How to Export Local Content’ on Monday, December 10, to share his insights on how to overcome the obstacles of exporting local / Arab content. Ted Baracos, Director of Market Development at MIPTV/MIPCOM, will be the moderator of the industry panel to discuss “International Market Spotlight: Co-production and Distribution in Europe, Japan and Russia” on December 10. Also to be discussed are how content travels around world markets, highlighting best practices in bringing local content producers and rights owners to international TV markets.
MIPTV 50th edition will be held in Cannes (France) from 8-11 April 2013, and will celebrate its special anniversary in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee of the TV industry. The event is expected to host more than 11,000 decision makers from over 100 countries.
The Ninth Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) that will be held in Mina Al Salam hotel, Dubai from 9-16 December, is the leading film festival in the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Since its inception in 2004, DIFF has established itself as a major international festival and continues to serve as an influential platform for Arab filmmakers and talents at an international level.
