du Hosts Brett King At Sixth Customer Advisory Board Session
Bestselling author and MovenBank founder discusses mobile impact on business
du’s sixth Customer Advisory Board (CAB) session, held recently at the telecom’s head offices in Dubai Media City, hosted Brett King, the bestselling author of ‘BANK 2.0’, founder of breakout new retail banking concept, MovenBank, and named American Banker’s Innovator of the Year in 2012. The session was attended by senior representatives from several leading global industries, and included an open discussion, as well as an introduction to du’s recently announced world-class data centre services in alliance with Equinix.
Two new members were welcomed to the board during the session. These were Dr. Abdulkareem Sultan Al Olama, Executive Director, Dubai Healthcare City, Centre for Healthcare Planning and Quality, and Ali Sajwani, Group CIO, Emirates National Bank.
Brett King addressed the session with a discussion entitled ‘How mobile changes everything’, which focused on how best to engage with customers at a time when the behaviour of digital natives is shifting and shaping customer habits. He explored new business opportunities to be managed and taken advantage of in customer advocacy, as well as the impact of online customer behaviour on businesses’ brand, advertising, sales and marketing strategies.
“The telecommunications sector has transformed drastically in the last few years, due to the digital ecosystem that has evolved into the one in which we live today. As a result, we are now faced with rapidly changing consumer expectations, behaviour and the desire for more content and broadband capacity, which makes it increasingly important for telecoms to emerge as more responsive and connected to the needs of its customers. It has been a pleasure discussing this vital topic with the members of du’s CAB session,” said Brett King.
Following King’s address, the CAB members participated in an open discussion on equally significant topics affecting industries across the board: Virtualisation, Mobile Device Management, Security in the Cloud, and Remote Infrastructure Management.
“The sixth edition of our regular CAB sessions touched upon topics that are especially relevant in our increasingly digitized world. I would like to thank Brett for his participation; he delivered an exceptionally pertinent presentation and inspired dialogue on how we, as industry leaders, can best incorporate our customers’ requirements into the digital approach that adds further convenience to their lives,” said Osman Sultan, CEO, du. “Our CAB sessions bring together industry leaders, who share their expertise in order to develop and implement best practices across the board.”
du established its quarterly CAB meetings in line with its promise to ‘add life to life’, both to individuals and to businesses. The first of its kind in the region, the CAB concept comes under the umbrella of the du Leadership Series, with the aim of bringing together a select group of industry leaders from top enterprises across all industry verticals.
During each meeting, du discusses industry trends, business priorities and strategic direction, while also listening directly to the voice of the customers in a bid to work in union across all industries. Through this initiative du connects and engages with customers in an entirely revolutionary and proactive way, while fostering innovation and leadership through a process of discussion and participation in order to contribute to the shaping of the telecom industry in the future – not just in the UAE, but across the region.
