• LitFest First Fiction Competition Extends Deadline Montegrappa Comes On Board

The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature announced that the First Fiction Adult Writing competition which gives unpublished adult novelists the chance to have their work evaluated by a leading literary agent, Luigi Bonomi, is now running in partnership with Montegrappa, Italy’s oldest manufacturer of luxury writing instruments. Festival organisers further announced that the competition deadline has been extended until 20 January 2013.

More good news for aspiring authors is that the prize will now include a wonderful writing instrument.

“We are thrilled that Montegrappa has chosen to sponsor First Fiction,” said Festival Director Isobel Abulhoul. “Their pens are beautiful hand-crafted masterpieces that celebrate the art of writing, so we really couldn’t have a more fitting sponsor. We know there is a huge amount of talent out there so we hope this competition can give a boost to people’s literary aspirations. It’s a fantastic opportunity for first time writers to be read and have their work evaluated by an influential literary agent,” she continued.

Charles Nahhas, Managing Director of Montegrappa Middle East said that the company was delighted to be involved with the Festival and particularly in championing new writers: “Any initiative that encourages writing is to be applauded, and this competition will be a wonderful way to discover and encourage our new, talented novelists and give them that much needed first exposure to the literary world.”

The Montegrappa First Fiction allows writers who have never had a novel published the unique opportunity to have the 400 word synopsis and first five pages of their fiction manuscript read and evaluated by top UK Literary Agent Luigi Bonomi. The work judged to be the best will win a superb set of prizes, in addition to a Montegrappa pen, including a trip to London Book Fair 2013, lunch with Luigi Bonomi at the Fair and a copy of the current Writers’ and Artists’ Yearbook. There are a series of other prizes for runners-up.

Montegrappa is Italy’s oldest manufacturer of luxury writing instruments. Operating since 1912 in the same historic building, Montegrappa produces hand crafted works of art that celebrate mankind’s mastery of the written word.
