Vice Chairman Of Supreme Council Of Energy Meets Founder Of World Energy Forum
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy has met with Dr. Harold Hyun-Suk Oh, President and Founder of the World Energy Forum, attended by Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Khawla Al Mehairi, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications at DEWA.
The meeting discussed future cooperation and follow-up the official announcement on World Energy Day announced in Dubai, which will be marked on 22 October each year, with the blessing of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and signed by their Majesties, Highnesses, Excellencies, kings, princes, heads of State and government representatives during the World Energy Forum 2012 in Dubai. This select group signed the Global Initiative to usher in a new era where governments and heads of state are committed to drawing a roadmap for the establishment of a sustainable energy system that will benefit all peoples. This will be celebrated every year, like the World Environment Day.
The heads of states, ministers and participants in the World Energy Forum 2012, issued the Dubai Declaration, which praised the UAE Vision 2021 and the rise of the UAE’s position on global sustainable energy, supported for the development process, and the rational use of resources of fossil fuels.
During the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and the President and Founder of the World Energy Forum discussed arrangements for hosting the next session of the forum in the capital of China, Beijing, which will focus on renewable and sustainable energy in the presence of over 5,000 delegates.
Over its three-day period, the World Energy Forum witnessed discussions and exchanges of experiences and best practices from around the world on topics and issues of energy and sustainable development. Presidents, leaders, ministers and experts from around the world talked about their common goals and their continuous quest to reach the best possible solution environmentally-friendly and sustainable world.
