Mashreq Hosts Job Shadow Day
In line with its community strategy and a reflection of its commitment, leading financial institution, Mashreq announced hosting Job Shadow Days (JSD) in its offices in partnership with Injaz UAE, a member of Junior Achievement Worldwide. A total number of 29 students from Zayed University, studying in freshmen and second year participated.
The main objective of the JSD program is to introduce students to the world of work and to enhance their work-readiness skills. It also assists them to understand the link between the school work and the workplace.
Mashreq focus on the Education is manifested through providing financial literacy, success skill development and career guidance to students across the UAE. Students from Zayed University engaged in on-site mentoring experiences and experiential learning sessions in various departments within the bank such as, branch operations, marketing, analytics, and administration amongst others.
Arundhati Sen, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Mashreq said, “Mashreq as a leading regional financial entity goes through considerable effort to do its part in ensuring that CSR activities are embedded within our corporate DNA. We take pride in imparting relevant and tangible financial literacy amongst the youth in order to assist them in becoming conscious money spenders and borrowers, while providing valuable entrepreneurial advice for start-up businesses. Our partnership with INJAZ UAE has been ideal in achieving this objective and we wish to reach out to many more students in the coming years.”
Mashreq is an avid supporter of Injaz UAE and this is demonstrated through providing 270 staff of the bank with 1457 accumulated number of hours volunteering for various activities.

The program is a very fun, yet rewarding opportunity allowing the students to experience jobs for a day - win-win for them and the volunteers mentoring them on that day.”
The INJAZ UAE Job Shadow Day Program (JSD) was rolled out late 2011 and since then over twenty companies have supported this program by hosting students in Dubai and Abu-Dhabi. Mashreq offered the highest number of hosted visits during the Spring term 2012, making them the top volunteer contributor to INJAZ UAE. The program meets the needs of a diverse group of high school & university students by providing engaging, academically enriching, and experiential learning sessions in work-readiness education and career perspectives. Nearly twenty private sector companies are taking part in this program.
