• Poll Reveals 77% Of The Public Has A Favorable Opinion Of The UAE’s Medical Technology

Technological boost for Dubai’s medical industry as Saudi German Hospital becomes gateway for ultra-advanced equipment from Philips

A poll by YouGov indicates that 77% of the public view the UAE’s medical technology as being on equal terms with global standards. This point of view is reflected in a recent meeting between senior representatives from Saudi German Hospital-Dubai and Philips, one of the world’s leading technology companies, who held in-depth discussions that could take Dubai a step closer to its goal of being the preferred international destination for advanced healthcare.

According to the poll, 66% of respondents consider the UAE to be up to date with the latest medical technology, while a further 11% view the UAE as a leader in acquiring the latest global technology. This brings to 77% the total proportion of people who give a vote of confidence to the country’s medical technology. However a minority (23%) feel the UAE is not acting fast enough to adopt the latest technology.

The two parties reached a consensus that Philips will equip SGH with advanced medical technologies for the hospital’s future projects, paving the way for more sophisticated equipment to become even more accessible to Dubai’s healthcare consumers, ranging from Clinical Informatics, Imaging Systems, Diagnostic Monitoring Equipment, Defibrillators, Patient Care Devices and Clinical Informatics Systems. This will give the UAE a foothold in the global medical technology industry, which was estimated to be worth US$307.7 billion in 2012.

President of the Saudi German Hospitals Group, Eng. Sobhi Batterjee met the CEO of Philips Healthcare: Ms Deborah Di Sanzo, accompanied by the company’s regional Vice Presidents and General Managers. They discussed future partnerships covering not only Saudi German Hospital-Dubai, but across the entire SGH Group’s regional hospitals.
