Registration Of Retail Outlets Gathers Steam For DSF 2013
Applications have been pouring in from hundreds of retail outlets who plan to participate in the 18th edition of Dubai Shopping Festival with their diverse range of products and services that will be offered to visitors to Dubai during the 32-day shoppping and entertainment extravaganza, starting on January 3.
With more than 7,000 retail outlets expected to participate in DSF 2013, the festival looks set to live up to its promise of offering ’Dubai at its Best’. The festival’s organiser – the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE), an agency of the Department of Economic Development – has made various levels of participation possible for retail outlets by introducing several different categories under the broad umbrellas of Premium and Limited Packages.
Participation of the retail outlets is divided into six main categories, namely the DSF Exclusive category that allows retailers to run innovative promotions exclusively for DSF 2013; the DSF Sale category in which all merchandise in a participating store will be marked down by a minimum of 25 per cent to a maximum of 75 per cent; the Part Sale category where the participating store will reduce prices of at least 50 per cent of its merchandise by a minimum 25 per cent; the DSF Discount category where the retailer is free to determine the extent and percentage of price reduction; the DSF Offers category, such as a ’Buy-one-get-one-free’ or other such value-added offer that the DEPE sanctions as offering tangible benefits to the consumer; and the DSF Raffles category in which retailers are alllowed to run their own in-store raffle promotion or ’Scratch and Win’ promotions during the event.
The DSF offer to the retailers also extends to restaurants and food outlets, which can run their own promotional offers and discounts, as well as to supermarkets which can conduct any sanctioned promotion during DSF 2013. Other ways in which retailers can participate are by setting up kiosks and stands at key DSF sites, on-line promotion, sampling or leaflet distribution, as well as media house promotion.
Ever mindful of upholding the hard-earned reputation of Dubai as a place for genuine deals, value for money and the highest quality, exhaustive random checks will be conducted to ensure that participating outlets are delivering on promised offers and upholding the standards of quality in goods and services that they are obliged to under their partnership agreement with DEPE.
Registrations for DSF 2013’s retail outlets opened on November 25,2012 and will close on January 31,2013 with a view to enabling even last minute applications from retailers. The registration centres are located at Department of Economic Development’s offices at The Dubai Mall and Al Twaar Centre – both open from 7:30am to 1:30pm, Sunday to Thursday – and at the DEPE’s offices in Business Village, Deira – from 9am to 3pm, also Sunday to Thursday.
