Aston Martin Flies Into Its Centenary Year During Dubai Shopping Festival 2013
British luxury sports car maker Aston Martin could not have chosen a better time or setting to launch its 100th anniversary celebrations. Or a more spectacular ceremony.
On January 17, and with the gracious presence of HH Shaikh Mansour Bin Mohammad Bin Rashed Al Maktoum, a helicopter ferried one of Aston Martin’s precision driving instruments over Dubai’s futuristic skyline and landed it on the helipad on top of the iconic Burj Al Arab on the last day of the World Luxury Expo, held at the super luxury hotel concurrently with the 18th edition of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF). This officially started off the centenary celebrations of the legendary British marquee that has been a symbol of speed, luxury and sophistication throughout its history.
Speaking about the event, Dr. Ulrich Biz, Aston Martin CEO, said that as the maker of exceptional high-performance cars since 1913, Aston Martin considers 2013 as its most significant milestone – that of having completed 100 years of business while continuing to lead the industry as one of the most coveted international luxury automotive brands, “we are really thankful for Dubai and its leadership for hosting this global event. Its really fitting to have our centenary celebrations kick start in one of the most prestigious land marks of the world, located the City that is renowned for its innovation and creativity, and during one of the most successful festivals in the world”.
Aston Martin is also associated with celluloid glamour as it has been the car of choice in several James Bond films. The excitement it generates among petrol heads was aptly mirrored by the occasion chosen to start off its centenary celebration – DSF 2013, which mirrors Aston Martin’s philosophy of excellence by presenting “Dubai at its Best”.
