H.H Sheikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Hosting the 2020 World Expo in Dubai, today chaired the committee’s meeting - the second to be held since it was strengthened at the end of last year with the inclusion of Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality and the Dubai Road and Transports Authority.
The meeting was attended by members of the committee including Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director-General of His Highness the Ruler’s Court of Dubai, who serves as Deputy Chairman, Reem Al Hashemi, UAE Minister of State and the Committee’s Managing Director, Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Roads and Transport Authority; Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality; Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and CEO of Dubai World Trade Centre and Major General Khamis Matar Al Mazeina, Deputy Commander General of Dubai Police.
Following the submission of the UAE’s official Bid Dossier to the Bureau International des Exhibitions (BIE) in December, the Higher Committee discussed a number of key upcoming milestones in relation to the remaining 11 months of the country’s bid to host World Expo 2020.
The 153rd BIE General Assembly is one of the major events currently being worked on. This will be the penultimate presentation to the BIE for each candidate city ahead of the BIE’s final decision and vote in November this year.
