Dubai Health Authority Announces ’Tawajud Express’ Service For Medical Fitness Tests
The Dubai Health Authority, announced, the introduction of its ’Tawajud Express’ service which provides medical fitness test results within four hours of sample collection. Mandatory medical fitness tests are compulsory for all expatriates in the UAE for the issuance or renewal of their employment, residence or student visas, and the DHA has 16 medical fitness centres located across the Emirate to provide this service.
"The aim of introducing such fast-track options is to offer convenient options to a large percentage of the population that avails of these services," said Maisa Al Bustani, director of medical fitness at the DHA.
"We have implemented a service called the Tawajud Express - this is an extension to our existing Tawajud service, which was implemented in 2010," she added.
"Tawajud means door-to-door service. DHA employees visit the office or home of the applicants who have requested for this service and conduct the medical fitness tests required on the spot," she concluded.
"Results are obtained with 48 hours but with Tawajud Express, results are provided within four hours of sample collection. We introduced this service because we received several VIP and urgent requests. With the introduction of this service, customers have several options to choose from, depending on the urgency of their request," he further added.
"At one time, a maximum of 70 employees can be tested. This saves the time of the business community as their employees can get the test done in their offices itself," Al Bustani said. "In 2012, more than 9000 individuals have used this service," she added.
Al Bustani said, "For both the Tawajud and Tawajud express facility- the flat fee for requesting for this service is AED 1010. "Irrespective of whether one person uses this service or a group of 70 employees use this service, the cost remains the same and is a flat fee for requesting for this fast-track service."
Al Bustani also highlighted the authority’s plans to expand its existing medical fitness centres. Aimed at further improving geographical access, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) will open two medical fitness centres in the populous Bur Dubai and Deira regions of the city, said Al Bustani.
She said, "The centres will be open in 2013 and that the new centres will cater to the residents living in these populated and high-demand areas of Dubai, further helping the authorities streamline its services."
"These areas are very accessible and we are confident that adding our services to these locations will provide customers with easy access to medical fitness services," she added.
Al Bustani said, "The authority will also expand its medical fitness centres. "This year we will expand the Jebel Ali medical fitness centre so that people who live in that area do not need to travel to other areas of Dubai to get their medical fitness tests done. Later, we may expand other centres if we see there is a need to increase capacity."
Al Bustani said, "950,000 individuals have used the medical fitness services, since the last two years of which, 94,000 individuals have used the VIP medical fitness."
