Dubai Municipality Urges To Register Online For Car Free Day
Dubai Municipality has urged the public and participating organizations to register for the Car Free Day 2013 through its website.
Eng. Mohammed Mahmoud Nouri, Director of Corporate Marketing and Relations said that we feel very of proud of launching this eco-friendly initiative as we get huge response and enquires from the public and organizations to take part in the event.
"This year we have added a new facility for the participants to register online. This will help the civic body to accurately count the number of participants and calculate the impact of the initiative in reducing the carbon emissions during the day," Nouri said.
"The information included in registration form will help us to follow up and encourage the participants giving them surprises," he added.
Dubai Municipality had first launched the Initiative in 2010 as a humble beginning for its employees in which 1,000 vehicles participated deducting three tons of carbon emission. In 2012, Department of Land and Property, Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Etisalat also joined the Municipality increasing the number vehicles to 2,400 and deducting the carbon emission by 4.2 tons.
"In 2012 the participants increased to 18 organizations from government and private sector resulting to take 3,500 vehicles off the roads and reducing 10.5 tons of carbon emission. This year the civic body hopes to double the results in terms of the number of participants and conservation of environment," he hopped.
