Emirates Gas LLC (EMGAS), a subsidiary of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), clinched first place at the Dubai Awards for Sustainable Transport (DAST) 2013, under the Environmental Protection Category for Transportation.
Zaid Alqufaidi, Managing Director – Marketing of ENOC and Hesham Al Mustafa, Senior Director – ENOC Gas Marketing and General Manager – EMGAS, received the award from His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.
DAST, which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, in partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), aims to educate and encourage community organisations in the city to play a pivotal role in spearheading the growth in sustainable transport.
EMGAS was awarded for the initiatives that it has implemented to reduce its carbon footprint in the Logistic Operations. The site was audited by a team of professionals from RTA and Dubai Municipality, across an array of facets including the use of the Remote Tank Gauging Systems to optimise capacity utilisation of tankers; AC interlock cut-off in trucks to avoid idle running; Lube oil life optimisation based on oil change; Exhaust gas monitoring to control and reduce exhaust emissions; Modification of its Hydraulic circuit in tankers to eliminate oil spillage; and its unique KPI monitoring within the transportation environment.
Since its inception, EMGAS has executed innovative ideas such as LEAN management and the EMGAS Suggestion Scheme, to uphold the best practices in business excellence and service.
