UOWD Unveils New Developments Ahead Of 20th Anniversary Celebrations
University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) is heralding the start of its 20th anniversary celebrations through a new website and expansion of its library.
The developments come ahead of the formal launch of celebrations which will begin in March.
The revamped website has been launched after a six-month review and planning exercise, incorporating international best practice. It boasts a clean look and more engaging content. The key differentiators include a mega drop-down menu for a better user experience as well as optimised SEO content.
“The new website is much more user friendly and is better aligned to that of University of Wollongong in Australia. It ties in well with our 20th anniversary celebrations, and we’ve already have overwhelming positive feedback from users,” says Director of Marketing and Student Recruitment at UOWD, Peter Hawke.
The University’s library, one of the largest among private universities in the UAE, has expanded by 33 per cent. Located on the first floor of Block 14 in Dubai Knowledge Village, the library is spread over an area of 950 square metres, and can sit up to 240 students.
The key highlight of the expansion is extra space and special rooms for postgraduate students of DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs, in view of the fact that the university prides itself as a research-focused institution. The library boasts dedicated librarians to assist research students and it runs separate research workshops for them.
The library has added new study carrels and extra tables in the quiet area whilst the computer lab within the library has a range of laptops and desktop computers. Importantly it provides extensive online resources for students, including full access to those of UOW in Australia, an important consideration for Post graduate students
Over the past 20 years, UOWD has enjoyed significant growth, now offering 25 accredited degree programs, hosting 3500 students and supporting a network of 6000 alumni across the Middle East and beyond.
