Emirates Links Dubai With Algiers
Emirates made a strong presence in Algiers last night with a high profile gala dinner held in celebration of its brand new service to Algiers, which began 1st March.
More than 300 guests from the travel trade and business community gathered for the eagerly-awaited event at Le Chapiteau, Sheraton Club Des Pins Hotel, which featured performances by renowned stars including Mohamed Rouane, Amal Wahbe and BB Blues.
The launch activities continued today with a press conference held at the Sheraton Club Des Pins Hotel in Algiers attended by senior Emirates executives and members of the local media. "This is a key moment for Emirates in Africa and we would like to thank the Algerian authorities in both the UAE and Algeria for the assistance they have provided in making this new route a reality,” said Adel Al Redha, Emirates Executive Vice President Engineering and Operations. “We are confident that our new service will play a significant role in supporting the economic growth of Algeria by connecting the nation to our worldwide network, opening new conduits for trade, investment and tourism.”
“Algeria is home to numerous tourism attractions and an important economic, commercial and financial centre, with a growing GDP and we are confident that the new service will be a success providing the most efficient bridge to the Middle East, Asian Subcontinent, the Far East and Australasia,” said Jean Luc Grillet, Emirates’ Senior Vice President Commercial Operations for Africa.
Launched on the 1st March, EK 757 departs Dubai daily at 0845hrs and arrives at Houari Boumediene Airport at 1330hrs. The return flight, EK 758, departs Algiers at 1535hrs and lands in Dubai at 0055hrs the next day. An Airbus 330-200 aircraft will operate the route in a three class configuration with 12 tonnes of belly hold cargo capacity.
Following the launch of Algiers, Emirates will start services to Haneda in Japan on 3rd June and Clark in the Philippines on 1st October 2013.
The airline currently has a fleet of 198 aircraft, including the world’s largest Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 fleet, and flies to 130 destinations – supported globally by more than 60,000 staff.
