Countdown Begins To Exclusive Oil Barons Charity Ball To Benefit UAE Charity
This year’s event will crown the 10th Oil Baron and will seek to raise more than the AED 1 million raised at last year’s ball
With only hours to go until the annual Oil Barons Charity Ball (OBCB), the preparations are entering the final stages for the exclusive event on 8 March at Meydan racecourse.
The theme of this year’s event is ‘The Glitter Ball’, in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the ball. In what is certain to be a fun-fuelled night of glitz and glamour, highlights at the ball will include music from the 1970s, silver service gala dinner and awards for the best dressed woman and couple. The night will culminate in the announcement of the 10th Oil Baron who will receive a lifetime achievement award recognizing their industry contribution and community commitment.
“We are putting the finishing touches to what promises to be a spectacular celebration of 10 years of the Oil Barons Charity Ball.” said Simon Mellor, Senior Vice President at dmg::events, the organizers of the Oil Barons Charity Ball.

Those lucky guests who have already purchased their can expect a fun filled evening with more prizes on offer the the opportunity to raise more money for an extremely worthy cause” Mellor continued.
This year, guests will have the opportunity to bid on 12 unique items signed by stars from the world of rock, sport and film; 10 at a silent auction and the remaining 2 at a live auction at the ball which will also include some unique and exciting ‘What Money Can’t Buy’ VIP packages.
The silent auction is dominated by items owned by the top names in sport, including: a signed football boot from one of the world’s most exciting players – Cristiano Ronaldo; tennis racket from the most successful player in tennis history – Roger Federer; signed swimming cap from the world’s most decorated Olympian Michael Phelps – 18 time gold medal winner; signed photo from the current world golf number one– Rory McIlroy; a jersey from horse racing legend Frankie Dettori; a Tour de France jersey signed by nine previous winners; plus signed flags from past champions of two of the biggest golfing Majors – the Masters and the British Open. There will also be a signed photo from legendary James Bond actor Sean Connery plus a bass guitar signed by Beatles front man Sir Paul McCartney.
There will be more exciting items up for grabs at the live auction, including a signed guitar from rock legends, the Rolling Stones From the world of sport, you can bid for a helmet signed by the youngest ever Formula One Triple World Champion, Sebastian Vettel While the highlight of the live auction will be some very exciting and unique VIP experiences from the world of golf, tennis, horse racing and rugby under ‘What Money Can’t Buy’ packages.
All proceeds from the auction will go to the Sharjah-based Friends of Cancer Patients Society (FOCP). At last year’s ball, the auction generated AED 300,000 of the total AED 1 million raised on the night and organisers hope to raise even more at this year’s event.
Over the last four years, the Oil Barons Charity Ball has raised an impressive AED 2.4 million for the FOCP.
