Mohammed Bin Rashid Approves New Organisational Structure Of The Government Of Dubai Media Office
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, in his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, has approved the new organisational structure of the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO).
The new structure aims to boost DGMO’s taskforce with qualified young Emirati media leaders that had proven professional competency throughout their career. The new formation will help evolving the Office to an advance phase of professionalism, undertake its strategic objectives and strengthen cooperation and communication with Dubai’s public sector and local and international media.
Mona Ghanim Al Marri, Director General of GDMO, stated that the new structure reflects the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to engage Emirati leadership capabilities, incubate young talents and adopts decentralization as fundamentals of operations.
Al Marri added that, under the instructions of Sheikh Mohammed, the GDMO’s new administration will work to achieve its objectives by encouraging innovation and participation among its staff initiating from their keen understanding for the Office’s responsibilities to expand cooperation between the local government and media.
Al Marri called GDMO’s staff to work hand in hand to fulfil the Office’s strategic objectives, enhance their proficiency and assume best practices in the field.
Abdulla Al Mansoori - Director, Corporate Support: Abdullah Ahmed Al Mansoori holds significant experience in finance and administration. Since 2010 and prior to his work for GDMO, he was Director of Finance at Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Authority. Meanwhile, between 2007 and 2011, he was Director of Investments at DIFC Investments and Chief Executive Director, DIFC-LCIA Arbitration Centre from 2010 to 2012. Al Mansoori occupied several leadership positions in various major organizations including Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park (DuBiotech) and TECOM Investments. Abdullah started his career in 2001 as Finance and Strategy Analyst at Dubai Media City.
Saud Mohamed Alderbi - Director, News Centre: Saud is a prominent Emirati media figure. He started his professional life as a reporter at Al Khaleej newspaper until he joined Dubai TV where he occupied different positions to conclude his service as Director of Domestic News Department. During his thirteen years of service at Dubai TV, Alderbi actively covered many local and international events and moderated conferences, discussions and symposiums. Additionally, he produced a collection of documentaries.
Salem Buti Bel Youha - Director, Media Development and Innovation: Salem is no stranger to the UAE’s media, communication and public relations community and an active figure in Dubai’s art and culture movement. He started his career early, while finishing his Communication Technology undergraduate program at the Dubai’s HCT, when he joined Dubai TV as Assistant Director. Right after his graduation, Salem worked for Al Bayan newspaper as columnist and Editor of Business and Cultural News. In 2003, he changed path to join the public sector when he became a Senior Executive in the Event Management Department at the Executive Office. His outstanding multitasking approach enabled him to engage in many major programs and projects. Despite his success in the public sector, Salem chose to challenge the private sector.
He joined Done Events, the event management arm of Arab Media Group, as Deputy Head of Events and soon Director of Operations. Duty called Salem again in 2007 when the Dubai Culture ’&’ Art Authority was established to act as Marketing and Events Manger and the Authority’s Spokesperson. Throughout his 13 years of service, Salem was never isolated from the UAE’s theatre, art and culture movements.
Maryam bin Fahad - Director, Government Media Affairs: Before her relocation as Director of Government Media Affair, Maryam was the Executive Director of Dubai Press Club (DPC) since 2007. She played critical role in emphasising DPC’s regional and global position by implementing a strategy based on extending its business, activities and partners worldwide.
Throughout her journey with the club, Bin Fahad played vital role in materializing several important initiatives like the Arab Media Forum and the Arab Journalism Award which consider two of the most prestigious events in the Arab media agenda. Moreover, she supervises the annum Arab Media Outlook which, after three editions, became a methodical and professional reference for media industry in the Arab World.
Muna Busamra - Director, Dubai Press Club: Muna has fourteen years of experience in media. She joined DPC in 2008 where she was assigned to oversee Arab Journalism Award; her contributions added great value to the award. Additionally, she was part of developmental projects in many other media projects like the Arab Media Outlook and Arab Media Forum. She is a winner of the 2007 Oscar Excellence Award and a nominee of Arab Journalism Award for Environmental journalism category.
Adel Omar Mohammed - Director, Operations and Projects: Adel Omer has over twenty four years of experience in radio, television and media administration. He worked for Dubai TV as a producer and broadcaster. He was also the Director of Public Relations in Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI). Adel is member of the Media Committee, Dubai International Holy Quran Award and Dubai Film and TV Commission.
Abdul Rahman Al Ali - Director, Engineering: Abdul Rahman is the Director of Engineering GDMO and Broadcast Consultant for DMI. He has been involved in the broadcast industry for more than 24 years. He holds Bachelor of Science in Communications Engineering from University of Kent in England. He Joined Dubai TV in 1984 as Broadcast Engineer. In 1993, he was promoted to a Director of Engineering in Dubai TV, during that period, he arranged Specialized broadcast Training courses for local engineers in collaboration with broadcast companies, System Suppliers and the BBC Training Centre in UK.
Under his direct supervision, Dubai TV was the first Broadcast Station in the Middle East to build a teleport with different Earth Stations for Multichannel transmissions to Cover America, South America, Asia, Europe, Australia, Middle East and North Africa. He also supervised the installation of the technical infrastructure of GDMO which included all civil work, internal fit out, IT, broadcast facilities which include HD editing, monitoring, recording and recently tapeless archiving. In 2011 he was responsible for building the latest news room and broadcast studio system which involves HD 3G production equipment, the first of its kind in the Middle East.
