Cantus To Sway Dubai With Unique Renditions International Musical Hits
Featuring Works by Michael Jackson, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, A.R. Rahman and More
Cantus, renowned for being a premier men’s vocal ensemble in the United States, will showcase their exalting finesse, expressive power and harmonious grace in their classical music performance on 31 March 2013 at the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre (DUCTAC), in Dubai, UAE.
Organised by Dubai Concert Committee, the concert is held under the kind patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority; Chairman, Dubai Airports; Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline & Group.
Brigitta Dagostin, Chairperson, Dubai Concert Committee said: “Cantus is a wonderful ensemble that is dedicated to inspire audiences with music performed at the highest level. Working without a conductor, the group rehearses and performs as chamber musicians where each contributes artistically to the musical outcome.
Cantus will perform a variety of musical masterpieces during the concert, some of which will include unique renditions of Michael Jackson’s ‘Heal the World’; ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’ by John Lennon and Paul McCartney; U2’s MLK, A. R. Rahman’s Zikr, and more.”
Cantus will serenade music enthusiasts with musical excellence from across the world by composers and artists that will include: Pérotin, Tomás Luis de Victoria, Edvard Grieg, Franz Schubert, Gordon Lightfoot, Veljo Tormis, Timothy C. Takach, Ysaye M. Barnwell, Zoltán Kodály, Pavel Chesnokov, the African-American Spiritual, and Steven Sametz.
The vocal ensemble Cantus consists of nine outstanding performers that include: Chris Foss, Aaron Humble, Paul J. Rudoi, Gary Ruschman, Shahzore Shah, Adam Reinwald, Matthew Tintes, Timothy C. Takach and David Walton.
Cantus is the recipient of numerous awards including Chorus America’s highest honor, the Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence (2009), as well as their Education Outreach Award (2011), Cantus was proud to be 2010-2011 Artists in Residence on Minnesota Public Radio and American Public Media’s Performance Today.
Cantus is committed to a long-range plan to preserve and deepen music education in the schools and works with more than 5,000 students each year in master class and workshop settings across the United States.
