TRA Played A Key Role In Cyber Defence Summit
Focusing on a range of issues currently facing the cyber security industry, the TRA took part in the event held in the Omani capital, Muscat
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) attended this year’s Cyber Defence Summit as part of the regulators strategy to be actively involved with the global discussion of cyber security at the very highest level. Hosted by ITA Oman and Oman CERT in partnership with Naseba, the event provided a unique platform for industry leaders, international experts and governments wishing to connect and share the very latest technology required to protect a nation’s virtual borders.
“The Cyber Defence Summit was a fantastic occasion and the organizers have certainly built on the overwhelming success of the event in 2012. The 2013 summit represented an opportunity to engage with the industry’s leading minds and it was important for us at the TRA to have a strong presence on the conference floor. This year I represented the TRA to take part in one of the discussion panels and as always, we welcomed the chance to transfer our knowledge by highlighting some of ways the UAE is currently protecting its critical infrastructure,” said Engineer Ahmed Alktebi, aeCERT representative.
“We are incredibly proud of progress made here in the UAE in terms of protecting our eborders however, we are also acutely aware of the ever changing threat posed by cyber criminals. This is precisely why the Cyber Defence Summit is widely recognised as a key event in the ICT calendar and is a priority for the TRA year in, year out,” he added.
Held at the Al Bustan Palace, the Cyber Defence Summit is a premier event that gathers key regional stakeholders to address the importance of protecting critical infrastructure in the Middle East and North Africa. The event runs over two days and includes a series of discussion panels, key note speeches and opportunities to meet in a one-on-one setting with the industry’s leading minds.
