• DEWA Rolls Out Second Phase Of Greenbill, The Paperless Invoice System

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) today announced the launch of the second phase of its paperless electronic invoicing system GreenBill. First unveiled in August 2012, the Green Bill is an electronic version of the regular paper bill, where customers will receive monthly emails.

The newly introduced electronic billing service builds on DEWA’s ‘Serving you more with e-Convenience’ campaign to encourage customers to use its e-Services and familiarise themselves with its wide range of offerings. DEWA implemented the first phase of the GreenBill after analysing customers’ feedback following its soft-launch last year, and is part of DEWA’s efforts to conserve natural resources and enhance customer satisfaction.

“In line with the ‘Green Economy for Sustainable Development’ initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote sustainable development in the Emirate of Dubai, DEWA adopts the latest technology to provide the best possible services to its customers. We are committed to upholding international standards in preserving the environment, and the second phase of the GreenBill builds on our strategy to support green initiatives in the region. It is one of the latest in customer services, and guarantees customer satisfaction while preserving our natural resources. Led by our vision to become a sustainable world-class utility, we will promote the GreenBill across all our marketing activities,” said Al Tayer.

“The second phase of the GreenBill further underlines the success achieved during the first stage, and the launch of the service last year. The main objective of the initiative in its second phase is the conservation of natural resources, and enhancing efficiency and customer service standards. Discussions are being held with various government organizations and institutions to encourage them to use GreenBill. This initiative will help in preserving natural resources, and it would not be possible without the concentrated efforts of our customers. We look forward to continuously leveraging on new electronic services, in line with our objectives and values for sustainability,” said Abdullah Al Hajri, Executive Vice President of Customer Services at DEWA.

“The GreenBill’s second phase will further add to the convenience of customers, and contribute significantly to the sustainable development initiatives of DEWA. It will also encourage customers to focus on energy savings, highlighting our commitment to work towards a sustainable future with the support of our customers,” added Al Hajri.

DEWA launched the GreenBill system to help customers to obtain information and enable them to manage transactions electronically. It takes into account best environmental practices and ensures environmental sustainability, for generations to come.
