Original Music Performances By 10 Groups Is Highlight Of SIKKA This Weekend At Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood
The musical compositions of emerging musicians and the passion that defines the fine arts will take centrestage at Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood during the last weekend of SIKKA 2013, the contemporary artist-led fair of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated Authority for culture, arts, and heritage.
During the last weekend of Art Week’s anchor event, SIKKA 2013 will host 10 performances by aspiring musicians, bands, and improv troupes, each bringing their distinct identity to Dubai’s evolving performing arts scene.
On Friday, March 22, audiences can catch the original compositions of award-winning poet, teacher, and hip-hop artist Paul D (7pm to 7:30pm); Norman Bataille (9pm to 9:30pm); fusion band Fables of Cantt, which mixes analogue sounds of yesteryear with today’s pop culture (10pm to 10:45pm); and Eddie Misk (11.30pm – 12:00am) at Courtyard C. Third Half Theatre will present Garçon, an exploration of the ephemeral nature of identity and relationships, from 7pm to 8pm in Dar Al Adaab (House 45).
On Saturday, March 23, Paul D will kick of the performances (7pm to 7:30pm); followed by founder of hip-hop collective, The Recipe, and fusion solo artist, Swerte (9pm to 10:00pm); performance artist and writer Nada Dada (10pm to 10:15pm); singer, songwriter, composer, and fusion-musician, Layla Lacole (10:30pm to 11pm); and chill-out, ambient, and down-tempo DJ, Liminal Roots (11:30pm to 12am), will take the stage at Courtyard C. Additionally, the region’s first long-form improv team, Dearly Departed, will perform in Dar Al Adaab (House 45), from 7pm to 8pm.
