du Lowers SMS Rates To Philippines From 60 Fils To 10 Fils To Connect Customers With Loved Ones Affected By Typhoon Haiyan
In light of the trying times faced by those in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan, du has lowered SMS rates to the Philippines to allow its prepaid customers to stay in closer contact with loved ones. All SMSs sent from 00:01 on 15 November to 00:59 on 22 November will be charged at just 10 fils per message, instead of the standard 60 fils rate.
Additionally, du has launched in internal fundraising campaign for employees to contribute what they can to help relief efforts. All money raised will be donated to the UAE Red Crescent Society, to be used for the purchase of essential supplies to help those in need.
"These are difficult times for the people of the Philippines, and our thoughts are with those who have been affected by this tragic event," said Fahad Al Hassawi, Chief Commercial Officer, du. "We hope our gesture of lowered rates will allow our customers to keep in touch with their loved ones in the Philippines. I also encourage the people of the UAE to embrace the nation’s spirit of generosity and help those in need at this crucial time."
