Celebrate Emirate Culture, Heritage And History At The 7th Al Dhafra Festival

Tilal Liwa Hotel, a secluded hideaway leisure resort perched on the edge of Rub Al Khali Desert, is now preparing for Al Dhafra Festival, a 15-day celebration to revive the Bedouin culture, heritage and history of the Emirate happening from 14th to 28th December in Madinat Zayed, Al Gharbia (The Western Region).

Now on its 7th edition, Al Dhafra Festival is a must-see event for visitors and residents of the UAE. The Festival is the biggest gathering of camel owners in the region and highlights the role of camels in the culture and heritage of the UAE. This year’s festival is expected to attract about 1,500 participants from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Yemen and the UAE and their nearly 25,000 camels will enter different competitions, categories and laps to win more than AED46 million in prizes.

There will be 12 events during the 15-day celebration namely, the Camel Beauty Contest (Mazayna), the Mahaleb Competition, the Heritage Camel Race, the Camel Auction, the falcon competitions, the Arab Heritage Saluki Race, the photography contest, the handicrafts competition in addition to the Dates’ Mazayna, the traditional Market and the Children’s Village.
