MoF Presents The e-Dirham System During Its Participation In The GCC e-Government Conference And Exhibition
As part of its desire to support GCC joint projects and encourage the integration of Council economies, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) participated in the 3rd GCC e-Government Award Conference and Exhibition in Dubai yesterday and discussed its experience in creating and developing the e- Dirham system to the participating delegations.
The Ministry was one of four main entities representing the UAE during the event and its participation was in collaboration with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), which was responsible for organising the conference. MoF discussed a working paper, ‘Achievements and Challenges of the e-Dirham system’, which was presented by Azza Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director of Revenue Development Department at MoF in the presence of Mona Al Mulla, Head of Collection Department at MoF and Rashid Al Shakshir, Director of the e- Dirham system at MoF.
Commenting on the Ministry’s participation, HE Saeed Rashid Al Yateem, Assistant Undersecretary of Resources and Budget Sector at MoF said: “Having the opportunity to participate in this special GCC event reflects the Ministry’s vital role in strengthening financial and economic integration across GCC states and supporting the Gulf Common Market.”
HE added: “Following the Ministry’s success in developing the e-Dirham system in the UAE and its belief in the value of exchanging experience and knowledge with its partners and brothers in the GCC, MoF wanted to give participants the opportunity to benefit from the Ministry’s ideas and to provide them with support across similar projects.”
MoF’s working paper demonstrated the various developing stages in the first and second generation of the e-Dirham system, the challenges faced in its adoption along with the mechanisms used to implement the system’s services.
