du Employees Participate In Clean Up The UAE
In line with its commitment to a sustainable future for the UAE, du participated in Emirates Environmental Group’s (EEG) ’Clean Up the UAE’ initiative that involved volunteers cleaning up the Nad Al Sheba area on 12 December.
Hala Badri, Executive Vice President, Brand and Communications, du, said: "As an environmentally-conscious Emirati company, we are keen to support and participate in initiatives such as Clean Up the UAE. Volunteering for such events not only contributes to the wellbeing of our environment, but nurtures team spirit amongst our colleagues. It’s a win-win situation for all, and I commend everyone who took part."Â
As part of its commitment to be more sustainable, du has implemented several initatives to benefit the triple bottom line of environment, society and economics. Volunteering forms a key aspect of the company’s employee engagement programme which has seen keen participation over the years. In 2012, du’s employees clocked 1036 volunteering hours across various initiatives. In the same year, the company also received 209 ’green ideas’ from its employees as part of an internal awareness drive.
du has also championed environmentally friendly practices, including the opening of the UAE’s first LEED Platinum-certified retail store in Fujairah and the use of smart hybrid power solutions across its base stations. The company also promotes the use of recycled and FSC-certified paper used in all of the company’s carrier bags and information leaflets.
