CIS Students Showcase Their Project At HCT-Dubai iTECHShow
The Higher Colleges of Technology, Dubai Women’s College (DWC) recently held an iTECHShow event to showcase the final projects of Computer and Information Science (CIS) students. The event primarily targeted DWC Foundations students to help increase their awareness of the varied nature of CIS projects that are undertaken and accomplished by these highly talented students.
The CIS Projects were demonstrated with the help of A1 size posters and Audio-Visual displays in the college’s main reception area. About 32 projects were on display, with topics ranging from applications, multimedia, networking, case-studies to research papers. CIS students proudly presented their work and actively answered questions posed by the visiting students and faculty. Participants then voted for the top three projects of their choice, using a voting survey tool.
The event is consistent with the mission of HCT which encourages “Learning by Doingâ€. The project work highlights the students’ ability to plan, design, create and implement an idea. This process helps improve their learning and understanding of the subject area. Ultimately, by being able to demonstrate their work in front of an audience helps boost the studentsØ· confidence and develop a sense of achievement.
Dr. Nasser Nassiri, Chair of the CIS department at Dubai Women College said, “This ‘was an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their wide array of projects to visitors and other HCT students. The visitors voted for the best three applications and certificates were awarded to the winning students. The students were highly excited while showcasing their projects and were encouraged to repeat the event at the end of every semester.â€
