Dubai Land Department Targets Leadership, Innovation And Excellence
Dubai Land Department (DLD) has launched a policy of ‘Innovation, Leadership and Excellence’ during an Innovation Forum held for its employees. The initiative has been introduced by the government department with the aim of achieving even greater success in sustainable organisational excellence.
According to DLD, the policy’s main goal is to empower its human resources department to create an environment that will enhance the skills and performance of its employees. Core policy components include honouring outstanding innovative efforts, ensuring the adoption of best practice and flagging up systems and initiatives that are most effective in achieving the department’s strategic objectives. It is hoped that by adhering to the policy guidelines, DLD will strengthen its position as a leader and innovator in all areas, thereby optimising levels of customer satisfaction.
“Our new Innovation, Leadership and Excellence policy will act as a strong positive incentive on the performance and behavior of DLD employees by supporting the process of institutional learning,†said Majida Ali Rashid, Assistant Director General, Dubai Land Department. “It will encourage employees to be creative and will help them take advantage of the resources and competencies available, both internally and externally. It will promote innovative practices and lead to positive participation in the provision of ideas and solutions,†she added.
During her speech at the DLD Innovation Forum, Rashid stressed His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai’s point that government departments need to adopt creative initiatives, such as those espoused by the ‘Government Innovation Lab,’ which was set up to meet the challenges faced in every field of the government’s operations.
Rashid noted that innovation and creativity is a basic necessity in business administration to meet organisational needs for growth and expansion, commenting that such qualities would become increasingly important during an age characterised by an information revolution and accelerating globalisation. She remarked that if any department wants to achieve excellence, it must adopt creativity within its organisational strategy.
"The Innovation, Leadership and Excellence policy will support DLD’s ongoing efforts to meet the expectations of all relevant groups of customers, employees, strategic partners, suppliers and the wider community it serves,†said Rashid. “It will underpin the department’s drive to reach the global number one spot for the services it provides and will assist the Government of Dubai in its overall strategic vision,†she added.
