More Than 700 Swimmers Race Around The Burj Al Arab To Raise Funds For Charity
More than 700 swimmers took part in Wild Wadi’s Swim around Burj Al Arab this weekend, raising more than AED 200,000 for Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontières (MSF). The 12th annual charitable event saw Thomas Dalgarno and Gwen Van Beek win the 1600 meter competitive men’s and women’s races, respectively, while families and friends of all ages and backgrounds enjoyed a leisurely 800 meter ‘open swim’ around one of Dubai’s iconic landmarks, with all proceeds from the event going toward MSF’s humanitarian aid as well as the UAE Red Crescent Society.
“The community spirit as well as the focus on fitness and fun at Wild Wadi’s Swim around Burj Al Arab makes for a fantastic event, and we’re delighted to seeing a growing number of participants, which means more funds raised for those in need, every year,†said Chris Perry, general manager of Wild Wadi.
