RAK Seniors Classic To Take Over Tower Links Golf Club And Al Hamra Golf Club
Senior golfers from the UAE and neighbouring countries to take part in the two-day tournament on 7-8 March 2014
The Annual Gulf Coast Engineering RAK Senior Classic returns to Ras Al Khaimahon 7 and 8 March2014 to take over the two fantastic golf courses of Tower Links Golf Club and Al Hamra Golf Club.
Now in its third year, the popular tournament showcases Ras Al Khaimah’sexceptional golf courses, which offer outstanding facilities, including lessons for beginners and the opportunity to play golf under the stars and are famous for hosting regional golfing championships.
The 36 Hole Individual Strokeplay event is open to male amateur golfers aged 50 and above and female amateur golfers aged 45 above,with an additional super senior category for males of 60 and above years of age and ladies aged 55 and above. The maximum allowed handicap indexis 28 for men and 36 for women and all participants require avalid EGF Handicap or Nationally Recognized Handicap.
The tournament will kick off on 7 March 2014 with an 18 hole round at Tower Links Golf Club with a shotgun start at 08:00 followed by a second and last game of 18 holes on 8March 2014at Al Hamra Golf Club, where competitors will tee off a 13.00shotgun. Speaking about the event, Steven Rice, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (TDA), said: “The RAK Seniors Classic is such a popular tournament, which year-on-yearbrings to Ras Al Khaimah a full field of senior golfers from all over the UAE and neighbouring countries ready to take on the very different challenges that both golf courses pose.
“Now in its third year, the event is expected to be yet another success, proving the emirate’s commitment to sports, and golf in particular; and we are very proud of how fantastic Tower Links Golf Club and Al Hamra Golf Club’s golf courses are.â€
Ras Al Khaimah offers a choice of two 18 hole championship golf courses, Al Hamra Golf Club and Tower Links Golf Club. Both courses offer excellent junior golf programmes under the guidance of PGA qualified professionals for kids aspiring to be the next Tiger Woods.
