Jumeirah Hotels And Resorts Celebrates Earth Hour And Dim Lights Around The World

Jumeirah Group, the global luxury hospitality group and a member of Dubai Holding, is set to join the rest of the world and celebrate Earth Hour on Saturday, 29 March at 8:30pm local time.

Jumeirah’s hotels and resort will dim or switch off unnecessary lights and use candles across its properties for an hour in a bid to raise awareness and contribute to the world’s largest global climate change initiative.

Jumeirah Beach Hotel will switch off external lights for the main building, conference centre, events arena, tree lights and flood lights across the tennis courts, marina and north beach.

The Burj Al Arab’s exterior lights and fountain displays will be switched off and lighting in the public areas reduced. Guests will be encouraged to support Earth hour by switching off non-essential lighting.

At Madinat Jumeirah, lights will be dimmed or switched off at a number of restaurants includingPierchic, Pai Thai, Segreto, while Al Qasr, Mina A’Salam and Dar Al Masyaf will switch off tree lights, water features, wind tower lights, beach lights and pool deck lights.

Jumeirah Emirates Towers will switch off the buildings’ external lights, garden lights, water features and floor lights in front of water feature. All non-essential lighting indoors will be switched off.

Jumeirah at Etihad Towers will switch off lights in the conference centre, lobby and restaurants while the lights on top of the five towers will also be switched off.

Jumeirah Creekside Hotel, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray and Wild Wadi Waterpark will also participate, switching off unnecessary lights.

At Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel & Spa, colleagues will form the shape of the Earth holding candles while the hotel turns off its façade lights, signage and the hotel water fountains. Lobby lights, food and beverage outlets, Talise Spa and employee accommodation will all be dimmed. Candles will be placed around its fountain and staircases.

At Jumeirah Frankfurt, the lobby lights, reception and Ember Bar & Lounge all located on the first floor will be switched off. Candles will be displayed as an alternative source of light and the outside lights will also be switched off.

Pera Palace Hotel Jumeirah, Istanbul, will also switch off external lights.

In London, Jumeirah Carlton Tower and Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel will dim exterior lights and use candles in their Food and Beverage outlets. All guests will be invited for specially created green ‘Earth Hour’ beverages. At Grosvenor House Apartments, by Jumeirah Living, posters and fact sheets will be displayed to raise awareness, corridor lighting will be dimmed and the Atrium will be candle lit.

At Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel, Shanghai lights in the restaurants will be switched off and candles used. A ‘Happy Earth Hour’ offer with green beverages and happy hour will be extended. Organic and healthy foods for bar snacks will be offered and accompanied by candlelit acoustic performances at the Lobby Lounge Pavilion.

In the Maldives, Jumeirah Vittaveli, is offering a ‘Couples Candlelight Massage’ and Candlelight Bath Ritual for $89 per couple. At Kuda Koli Kids’ Club, a number of environmentally friendly focused activities will be offered.

Earth Hour originally started in Sydney on March 31, 2007, when 2.2 million people and 2,100 businesses turned off their lights for one hour. Many major cities, inspired by the collective effort, have since joined Earth Hour, making this a global movement
