RTA reaps AED25.9 m from 82nd Open Plates Auction
The 82nd Number Plates Auction held by the Licensing Agency, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recently held at RTA Auditorium has attracted considerable public turnout from all spectrums of the community, particularly as it included distinguished two, three, four and five-digit number plates for private vehicles; which contributed to realizing high revenues in as much as 25.905 million dirham.
Mohammed Abdul Karim Nimaat, Director of Vehicles Licensing, RTA Licensing Agency, said: “About 100 distinguished numbers have been offered in the Auction, and the public are showing keenness on taking part in distinguished number plate auctions regularly held by the RTA. In this session about 223 individuals spanning various ages and categories were attracted to the Auction. About 39 three-digit plates offered in the Auction fetched the highest proceeds amounting to 11.7 million dirham. Three binary numbers were sold for 6.52 million dirham, 32 four-digit plates were sold for 4.451 million dirham, and 26 five-digit plates were sold for 3.234 million dirham.
“The auction saw positive and competitive bidding between zealous bidders, especially as it encompassed a diverse cast of distinguished numbers with different codes including the new code (O). The Licensing Agency will continue to stage open and online plates auctions in order to satisfy the needs of the public through the means that suit them, particularly as these auctions feature transparent & clear mechanism in selection and buying,†said Nimaat, adding that the next Auction would be held in May this year.
