DIB Holds Annual Ceremony To Recognise Employee Talent And Performance Excellence
Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB), the largest Islamic bank in the UAE, held its annual Performance Excellence Awards (PEA) ceremony to recognise and reward its employees for their effort in achieving the highest standards in organisational excellence. The event was attended by the bank’s Board of Directors, management and over 3,000 employees from DIB and its subsidiaries.
Coveted and sought after, the PEA awards are extended to individuals and teams in various categories who have, on their own or collectively, brought about a material change in the way the bank interacts with and serves its fast growing and diversified customer base and essentially, raised the bar by setting new standards for others to strive towards.
Presiding over the event, Abdulla Al Hamli, Managing Director and Board Member of Dubai Islamic Bank, said: “2013 was another successful year for the bank, which saw us expand our franchise and consolidate our position as a global leader in Islamic banking. The Performance Excellence Awards are extremely important because they reward teamwork and provide an opportunity to recognise the contributions made by all the team members at DIB. Our people are our strength and the synergies that they bring by working together as a cohesive team will be essential to fulfilling the bank’s vision over the next few years.”
Since its establishment in 2002, the PEA, as a concept, has constantly been refined to align itself with global best practices. Last year, it adopted the best practices of the European Foundation of Quality Management (EFQM) and the Dubai Quality Excellence Model. As such, choosing the beneficiary for the awards is a comprehensive, multi-stage evaluation process, including assessments by external assessors, lending the awards greater credibility and setting a benchmark for the industry.
Speaking about the importance of the event, Dr. Adnan Chilwan, CEO of DIB, said: “Over the last few years, we have collectively transformed the bank and today, are in a unique position to have the commitment and will, the financial strength and capability, and the talent and capacity to take DIB to a different level. We have a changed organisation now, and while we will continue to respect our heritage and tradition, the bank and its employees are geared for more innovation and breakthroughs. This is our collective agenda and the management is ready to motivate, inspire and reward those who help the organisation in achieving its ambitious plans. The PEA ceremony is our way of appreciating the talented and capable staff at DIB and assuring them that we are cognizant of their hard work and commitment to the institution.”
Held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the ceremony began with a recitation of the Holy Qur’an, followed by an address by the Managing Director and the CEO. Apart from the award ceremony, the event also included live entertainment by an illusionist and the launch of a commemorative video celebrating the 11th anniversary of the PEA.
