• Dubai Schools Football Cup Champs Train At Emirates NBD Football Clinic With Man U Coaches

The first Dubai Schools Football Cup (DSFC) champions attended today the Emirates NBD football clinic at Manchester United’s very own training ground, Salford Sports Village, conducted by Manchester United coaches.

Winning teams, Lyce Franais International Georges Pompidou Boys U15, Dubai National School Al Barsha Boys U12 and St. Mary’s Catholic High School Girls U16 and Girls U13 trained privately for 5 intensive hours with Manchester United coaches as part of their prize, courtesy of Cup Main Sponsor Emirates NBD, for securing the cup in each category during this year’s DSFC.

“Building on our on-going strategic partnership with Manchester United, we are so pleased to support the DSFC and to provide this unique, life-changing opportunity for our first wave of champions who, as pat of their prize, will also meet with some of football’s living legends. As the most popular sport in the world, football touches the hearts of millions including children from across the globe who call the UAE their home. We hope they enjoyed the Emirates NBD training clinic and as a result improve their team and football skills in preparation for DSFC 2015,”said R. Sivaram, Senior Vice President – Head of Retail Assets and Cards Business at Emirates NBD.

The winning teams learned and practiced crucial football techniques gleaning first-hand insights into the level of skill and stamina and type of dedication and commitment required of world-class players. Manchester United coaches trained the Dubai youth hard, expecting from them their very best at all times - and the youth delivered, participating fully and soaking up every moment. The training based on Manchester United’s philosophy driven by three principles of ‘Work Hard, Work as a Team and Believe in Yourself’ was delivered to the students through specific technical skill development exercises followed by a mini tournament.

All students received medals of participation and awards went out to top players for displaying great skill and team work. Award for ‘Skills Challenge Winner’ of the day went to Laurent Al Hallal from Lycee Francais International George Pompidou, Most Valuable Player went to Majerus Enguerran also from LLFGP and award for best Attitude went to Charlene Dharmai from St. Mary Catholic School.

“This has been an awesome experience. I can’t believe I got to train with the world’s best coaches. We are so grateful to Emirates NBD and to the DSFC for giving us this once-in-a lifetime opportunity,” said Chantel Pereira captain from St. Mary’s Girls U16 team.

The first edition of the DSFC, a partnership between Dubai Sports Council and Inspiratus, was held under the auspices of the Dubai Education Zone and played on the grounds of Dubai Sports City under the expert guidance of Dubai Sports City’s Football Academy Director, former Real Madrid Star and football legend, Michel Salgado. 1800 students from 50 Dubai-wide schools participated in Boys U12, Boys U15, Girls U16, Girls U13 categories.
