Ras Al Khaimah has won the Silver Award in the Best UAE Tourism Authority category at the prestigious 10th annual MENA travel awards hosted at the Conrad Hotel, Dubai on 7th of May 2014.
The accolade, which is independently verified by PWC from hundreds of thousands of votes straight from tourists rather than a voting committee, is a strong endorsement of the enhanced focus placed on tourism by Ras Al Khaimah in recent years.
Ras Al Khaimah Tourism CEO Steven Rice said "We are delighted to be selected for this honour, the MENA Travel Awards are well respected throughout the hospitality industry and we are proud of the great work our authority and partners have put in over the last 12 months to make this possible."
This award comes as the latest recognition in a long line of tourism success stories for the Emirate which includes the opening of the iconic Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah in August 2013 and the addition of the first 1,500 new hotel rooms on Al Marjan island, in addition to the trio of newly opened hotels; Rixos Bab Al Bahr, DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island and the Marjan Island Resort and Spa.
Furthermore, Ras Al Khaimah has recently announced that it grew its hotel guests in the first quarter of this year by 53% versus the same period in 2013, with almost half a million hotel guests visiting the Emirate in January, February and March, making Ras Al Khaimah one of the fastest growing leisure destinations in the world.
