RAK Half Marathon 2015 opens early bird registration
Early bird online registration for the 9th edition of the RAK Half Marathon will open on 1st June as the event is scheduled on 13th February 2015. With 258 days to go until the world's fastest half marathon taking place on 13th February 2015 in Ras Al Khaimah, entries are strictly limited to 2,500 places and registrations are on a first-come-first-served basis.
Organisers say the 2015 edition of the RAK Half Marathon, certified by Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), promises fast times and fierce contests with the prospect of more records, a distinct likelihood in both men's and women's competitions. With 258 days to go until the world's fastest half marathon taking place on 13th February 2015 in Ras Al Khaimah, entries are strictly limited to 2,500 places and registrations are on a first-come-first-served basis.
With a steady increase in participation since the inaugural race in 2007 and an oversold event in 2013, organisers expect strong numbers for the RAK Half Marathon 2015.
RAK Half Marathon is being organised by Premier Marathons and supports the Paul Tergat Foundation, an NGO established in 2005 as an initiative of the renowned Kenyan philanthropist and World Marathon record holder and five-time World Cross Country champion, in order to mobilise support for disadvantaged and marginalised persons and communities.
The previous edition of RAK Half Marathon saw the 2013 Boston Champion Lelisa Desisa (Ethiopian) win the men's race, in 59:36 and last year's New York City Marathon Champion Priscah Jeptoo (Kenyan) win the women's race, in 67:02. The men's race witnessed fierce competition with a record eight athletes breaking the hour in the same half marathon while the women's race was closely run with 9 athletes in under 70 minutes.
